Donsö, usually a quiet place for permanent residents and summer holidaymakers, is transformed every two years into a center for international shipping. Since its inception in 2009, the Donsö Shipping Meet event has grown into one of Sweden's largest meeting places for the international shipping industry.
This year's edition of Donsö Shipping Meet, 2025, was the largest to date with nearly five thousand visitors gathering for two intensive days of networking, seminars and business. For several years now, Gothenburg company Space Production has been a supplier to the large exhibition.
Donsö Shipping Meet is not only special for its size, but also for its location. As the name suggests, the event takes place on Donsö, a pleasant archipelago island outside Gothenburg. Visitors thus get a unique overall experience when they board the boat in central Gothenburg, then take a walk along the fine houses on Donsö and finally arrive at an arena specially designed to create effective meetings for the participants.
During an intensive week, Space Production and other partners transform Donsö into a trade fair site where five large tents are filled with stands for 270 exhibitors. Since Donsö is actually an island without car traffic, it will also be an extra challenge for the project team to coordinate the logistics around the material to be built.
Donsö Shipping Meet not only has exhibition stands, there are also several different stages with speakers, seminars and other smaller events within the event such as DSM Fishing Meet and DSM Safety Meet. The first day also ends with a banquet for 2,300 seated guests – that's more than at the Nobel Party.
